G-9m 2 Commanders may administer the APFT as often as they wish; however, they must specify beforehand when the results are for record. A minimum of 4 months will separate record tests. Soldiers that require make-up testing or re-testing for an APFT failure are exempt from the 4-month rule.
Mission requirements often prevent the even spacing of record tests. Therefore, commanders are encouraged to test Soldiers for record as close to the record test window as possible. Soldiers requiring make-up testing will be scheduled in accordance with the unit Standard Operating Procedures.

Thanks for taking the time to submit this. It is people like you who help us keep things up to date. My husband had a flag review in late July and was found to be in good standing.
The flag remains as I send this email. JAG has advised this can take up to 6 months and he should cease any further follow up calls. Discussion This response is based upon the limited information you provided.
With six events, new Army Combat Readiness Test aims to replace APFT, cut injuries
I am not sure what you mean by good standing. Nor did you state the reason for the flag. Was this the first review with the second review to be scheduled within 3 months?
I am confused as to why JAG would tell you it could take up to six months.Policies governing a new promotion system for noncommissioned officers of the active and reserve components are included in a major update to the service's principal regulation for advancing enlisted soldiers through the service's rank structure.Words with beertt
Six key points to the new regulation:. Under the Jan. Also effective Jan. Beginning in June, staff sergeants must complete SSD-3 to be considered for advancement to E7, and the Senior Leader Course for pin-on to sergeant first class. For more newsletters click here. Barring unexpected delays, the MLC pin-on requirement will apply to soldiers recommended for promotion by the master sergeant board that meets in March The STEP concept initially was added to the NCO professional development track in with policies that require master sergeants to be selected competitively for the Sergeants Major Course, and to graduate from the resident or non-resident SMC before being scheduled for advancement to sergeant major.
The objectives of STEP are defined in the first chapter, paragraphof the new regulation. Specific promotion pin-on rules are described in paragraph a. Other significant changes appearing in the regulation include:. If a flagging case is closed favorably, the soldier's promotable status will be restored, and he or she will be promoted on the date they otherwise would have been promoted.
If the soldier's case is closed with the notation "disciplinary action taken," or "other," for participation in a weight control, physical fitness or substance abuse program, the promotion pin-on date will be based on a future requirement, as determined by the Army.
The number of soldiers awarded these very special promotions ebbs and flows annually with the number of troopers deployed into combat zones.
For example, in fiscal there were 24 battlefield promotions to staff sergeant, and 55 to sergeant, for a total of 79, according to tracking data maintained by the Army. Soldiers can be conditionally promoted to sergeant or staff sergeant under this policy if they have not completed the Basic Leader Course and or Advanced Leader Course. However, to retain their stripes the soldiers must complete the BLC or ALC within days after redeployment to home station.
Once declared missing for a period of 60 days, soldiers in the ranks of private through sergeant will be promoted to the next higher rank upon reaching the time-in-service and time-in-grade requirement for that rank without a waiver. However, the STEP education requirements for promotion will be waived for soldiers who are declared missing. MIA soldiers in the ranks of staff sergeant through first sergeant who meet the time-in-service and time-in-grade requirements for promotion will be included in the zones of consideration for promotion to sergeant first class through sergeant major.
The STEP schooling requirements will be waived. In such cases, the approval authority for advancements to sergeant and staff sergeant is the commander of the local medical facility for Regular Army and Army Reserve soldiers, the state adjutant general for federalized National Guard soldiers and the director of the Army National Guard for Title 10 Guard soldiers.
The approval authorities for advancements to the senior NCO ranks are the commander of the Human Resources Command for RA soldiers, Regional Support Command or general officer commanders for Army Reserve soldiers, and certain senior-level commanders for National Guard soldiers.
Life expectancy, as determined by medical authorities, must be 12 months or less. While in the DES, soldiers will not be required to maintain their PT test or weapons qualification for the purpose of promotion eligibility or pin-on. Soldiers determined unfit by the DES but approved for continuation on active duty or continuation in the active reserve may be recommended for promotion consideration, selection and pin-on.

Can I administer a “for record” APFT while deployed? (UPDATED)
It is a simple way to measure a soldier's ability to effectively move his body by using his major muscle groups and CR system. Performance on the APFT is strongly linked to the soldier's fitness level and his ability to do fitness-related tasks. An APFT with alternate test events is given to soldiers with permanent profiles and with temporary profiles greater than three months' duration. While the APFT testing is an important tool in determining the physical readiness of individual soldiers and units, it should not be the sole basis for the unit's physical fitness training.
Commanders at every level must ensure that fitness training is designed to develop physical abilities in a balanced way, not just to help soldiers do well on the APFT. Commanders should use their unit's APFT results to evaluate its physical fitness level.
APFT results may indicate a need to modify the fitness programs to attain higher fitness levels. However, mission-essential tasks, not the APFT, should drive physical training. Methods of Evaluation Commanders are responsible for ensuring that their soldiers are physically fit AR There are several ways they can assess fitness including the following:.
Provides guidelines for safe, regular CR exercise. Gives advice and help in controlling heart-disease risk factors. Uses treadmill testing only for high-risk soldiers who need it. All soldiers, both active and reserve component, must take the APFT for record regardless of age unless prohibited by a medical profile. For soldiers who reached age 40 on or after 1 Januarythere is no requirement for clearance in the cardiovascular screening program before taking a record APFT.
Soldiers who reached age 40 before 1 January must be cleared through the cardiovascular screening program before taking a record APFT.
Prior to their CVSP evaluation, however, they may still take part in physical training to include diagnostic APFTs unless profiled or contraindications to exercise exist.
All soldiers must undergo periodic physical examinations in accordance with AR and NGR These include screening for cardiovascular risk factors. When applied to a command, APFT results show a unit's overall level of physical fitness.Reacting to the new Army fitness test
However, they are not all-inclusive, overall measures of physical-combat readiness. To assess this, other physical capabilities must be measured. The APFT does, however, give a commander a sound measurement of the general fitness level of his unit. Service schools, agencies, and units may set performance goals which are above the minimum APFT standards in accordance with their missions AR Individual soldiers are also encouraged to set for themselves a series of successively higher APFT performance goals.
They should always strive to improve themselves physically and never be content with meeting minimum standards.
Competition on the APFT among soldiers or units can also be used to motivate them to improve their fitness levels. Testing is not a substitute for a regular, balanced exercise program. Diagnostic testing is important in monitoring training progress but, when done too often, may decrease motivation and waste training time.
The test period is defined as the period of time which elapses from starting to finishing the three events. It must not take more than two hours.
Can I Be Flagged For Failing An APFT While Deployed?
Soldiers must do all three events in the same test period. Test Administration The APFT must be administered properly and to standard in order to accurately evaluate a soldier's physical fitness and to be fair to all soldiers. Test results are used for personnel actions. Individual soldiers are not authorized to administer the APFT to themselves for the purpose of satisfying a unit's diagnostic or record APFT requirement.
The supervisor of each event must have the event instructions and standards. The Army has approved alternate events for selected Soldiers with permanent profiles. Read More.Windows 10 sd card serial number
New Initial Operation Capability Manual. Watch the alternate aerobic events View here. Watch the alternate aerobic events. As military operations become more complex, it is essential that Soldiers are fit to fight and be a lethal force.
The U. Army believes the ACFT will improve Soldier physical readiness, transform the culture of Army fitness, reduce preventable injuries and attrition, enhance mental strength and stamina, and contribute to increased unit readiness. This will ensure our Soldiers are ready today and more lethal in the future. All six events will be executed with a continuous clock and total individual test is estimated at minutes or less.
The character of war is changing as are the physical demands of combat. The APFT primarily provides an assessment of muscular and aerobic endurance. The Army has determined that for Soldiers to be ready for the rigors of operations in a complex environment, they must possess significant physical capacity in the following components of fitness: muscular strength, muscular endurance, power, speed, agility, cardio endurance, balance, flexibility, coordination and reaction time.
Based on our analysis, the ACFT events most strongly correlate with combat readiness. All Soldiers, regardless of MOS, must be capable to deploy and fight. Based upon the results of this study the Army identified 10 components of physical fitness and the contribution of each component to success on the battlefield. It subsequently identified the most effective fitness test events to assess those components of combat fitness.
Military Academy, the U. Army senior leaders have approved a modification of the ACFT that included three aerobic test events for selected Soldiers with permanent profiles that prevent full participation in the 6-event test. The alternate assessment, including the additional aerobic test events, do not apply to Soldiers with temporary profiles.
Soldiers on temporary profiles are expected to recondition, retrain, and pass the full six-event ACFT. The time standard for each aerobic event is 25 minutes. The average testing time per Soldier is about 50 minutes. The ACFT can be scaled to groups of Soldiers ranging from one to per testing session depending on the number of lanes equipment and graders.Uztelecom nomer
A Company of Soldiers could be tested in a little over two hours using 16 lanes of equipment. That is a policy question and remains to be determined through the field tests, but we believe the ACFT will likely follow the same administrative requirements of the current APFT — twice per year about every six months. The specific grading approach and standards will be decided by Army senior leaders based on data collected from the field test.
There will be a minimum baseline standard that aligns with the general physical fitness required for a Soldier to perform high-physical-demand common Soldier tasks. Field testing will allow the Army to determine whether to administer the test based on unit occupational physical demands or by a Soldier's military occupational specialty.
Through the field test and going forward, the focus remains on increasing readiness by training and assessing the physical capacity of Soldiers to perform common warfighting tasks. See the scoring scales for the field test period. Performing well on the ACFT is a key indicator of a Soldier's ability to meet the physical demands faced in combat. The Army is a standards-based institution and those standards are grounded in the requirements of combat operations.
The rigors of ground combat are unforgiving and do not discriminate between men or women; therefore, our physical fitness test and standards reflect that reality.I am currently deployed, and about to go back home soon. We just had our last APFT until we get back home and take block leave. The next test should be in November.
I took the test today, and am ashamed to say that I failed due to the NCOIC saying that I did not perform the first 10 reps correctly twice. I did however pass all of the other events. Since we will begin redeploying in the net few weeks we will not have another test here. I talked to my 1SG and asked If I could take one after 30 days with the rear detachment. She said no, and that I would have to wait up to 90 days. I know the reg says no less than 30 and no more than 90 days to be retested.
I know this may be totally false, because I have never seen it in writing, but I have heard about Soldiers not being able to be flagged for APFT while deployed. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this?
I don't want this to sound like I am trying to get out of my failure, I just want to be afforded the opportunity to take the PT test again when I get back. Any help would be appreciated. Also if possible please provide refrences. Thank you SGT Hammy. Original Post. A armyreenlistment Career Counselor. First - Congrats on surviving your tour to Iraq. About being flagged for failing APFTs I illernoise Member. I was told that you can not be flagged for an APFT failure in Iraq, due to the fact that if you are flagged for anything, and something happens to you while you are over here, you will not be able to receive benefits from the Army.
This is coming from my SGM, so I'm just going off of his word. None of our APFTs have been for record, and no one has been flagged, but be assured that 90 days after we get back into country there will be a record APFT and everyone will be required to pass it. I expect to see the flags flyin. AR I din not intend for it to sound like I am trying to make excuses.
I realize what I have done, actually not done. I was just trying to lay the ground work for the situation.
